At the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Sony unveiled its new Xperia™ Touch. A laser projector that turns flat surfaces such as the wall or floor into a touchscreen between 23-80 inches (58.4-203.2 cm) and is operated by hand gestures and infrared sensors (10-point multi-touch) like a conventional touchscreen.
Up to 80-inch touchscreen
The actual screen area depends on the distance between the projector and the surface. In tabletop mode, the screen reaches a size of 23 inches. If it is projected onto the wall, up to 80 inches are possible. The resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels and the brightness is 100 lumens
The Xperia Touch's principle of operation is simple: you place the projector on a table or in front of a wall and start one of™ Sony's pre-installed apps. The possible applications are different. Especially in the consumer sector, the purpose of the Xperia Touch is probably to play music or games. However, it can also be used in the office for presentations. However, since the battery life is very limited at one hour, the application pleasure will currently still be relatively short.
We are curious to see how strong the interest in Sony's new product will be as soon as it hits the market. It should be ready in spring 2017.
